Refund & Cancellation Policy

Donations are voluntary and generally non-refundable - here is exactly when we make an exception, and how to ask.

Home / Refund & Cancellation Policy

A donation to Jivanam Foundation is a voluntary contribution, not the purchase of a good or service. Once we receive and allocate it, the money is usually already committed to a meal drive, a school fee, a health camp or a therapy session. For that reason donations are generally non-refundable.

We do, however, want every rupee to be given deliberately. The exceptions below exist so that a genuine mistake never costs a donor.

1. When we will refund

  • Duplicate payment. The same amount was debited more than once for a single intended donation.
  • Incorrect amount. A clear data-entry error - for example an extra zero - reported promptly.
  • Unauthorised transaction. The payment was made from your account without your knowledge, and you have raised it with your bank.
  • Technical failure. The amount left your account but never reached ours, or reached us twice.

2. When we cannot refund

  • The donation has already been disbursed to a beneficiary, vendor or programme.
  • An 80G tax-exemption receipt has already been issued and used, unless the receipt is returned and formally cancelled.
  • The request is simply a change of mind made after the funds were allocated.
  • The request arrives more than 15 days after the transaction date.

3. How to request a refund

Write to info@jivanamfoundation.org within 15 days of the transaction with:

  • the donor name and the mobile number or email used at the time of donating;
  • the amount, the date and the UPI or bank transaction reference;
  • a one-line reason for the request;
  • the payment screenshot or bank statement line, if you have it.

Please do not send us card numbers, UPI PINs, OTPs or passwords. We never need them.

4. How long it takes

We acknowledge every request within 3 working days and complete the review within 7 working days. Approved refunds are sent back to the original payment method only. Depending on your bank, the credit typically appears within a further 5 to 10 working days. Any transaction charge levied by the payment channel is not recoverable by us and may be deducted from the refunded amount.

5. Cancelling a recurring or pledged donation

If you have set up a recurring donation or made a pledge, you can stop future instalments at any time by emailing us or calling +91 93109 69057. Cancellation applies to instalments not yet collected; amounts already received are treated under the rules above.

6. Tax receipts after a refund

Where a donation is refunded, any 80G receipt issued against it is cancelled and must not be used in your income tax return. We will confirm the cancellation in writing.

7. Chargebacks

If you raise a chargeback with your bank, please tell us as well. It lets us hold the allocation and settle the matter directly, which is faster for you than a formal dispute.
