Why Our Special Children's Centre Looks Like a Playground, Not a Clinic

Walk into our Special Child Care Centre in Sector 6 on any weekday morning and you might think you've entered a playschool: music playing, colours everywhere, children laughing over art and craft. Look closer, and you'll see something else — every game is doing a job.

Therapy that doesn't feel like therapy

A child clapping to a rhythm is building attention span. A child rolling chapati-dough shapes in craft class is strengthening the same fine-motor muscles occupational therapy targets. A song with animal sounds is a speech-therapy drill wearing a costume. This is the essence of play-based learning: children work hardest when they don't know they're working.

What a week looks like

Our children's weekly schedule blends ADL (Activities of Daily Living) training, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, PT/yoga, music and dance, art and craft, and special education — plus indoor and outdoor recreation. Older children also get pre-vocational training: packing, sorting, simple craft production — the building blocks of future independence.

The real goal: independence

Success at our centre isn't measured in worksheets. It's the day a child buttons his own shirt. The day a girl who communicated only in gestures says "paani." The day a mother tells us, crying, that her son ate lunch with a spoon by himself.

These milestones cost money — therapists, materials, space — which is why our therapy case is always open. ₹800 keeps one child's full week of sessions going. Come visit the centre; the children love guests, and you will leave lighter than you came.
